Two vehicles of Oklahoma Highway Patrol were swarmed by honeybees after the truck carrying crates of bees overturned on Interstate 35 in Garvin County. According to NBC News, one deputy of the Garvin County Sheriff’s Department was trapped in his vehicle and also stung – albeit once, while the truck driver was treated for ‘non-life-threatening injuries’ at a nearby hospital.
Traffic came to a standstill as the beekeepers were brought onto the scene to capture the bugs. According to KOKH, officials set fire to several crates of bees Tuesday night “to keep them from swarming people”.
