#1. The Batmobile
Who wouldn’t want to own the Caped Crusaders ride? Of all the cars on this list, the Batmobile is the one that is the most well-known and iconic. This legendary automobile didn’t start out as the Batmobile, it began life as a 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car. The Futura was being stored at Barris Kustom City for quite some time and when Ford lost interest in the car, George Barris (owner of Barris Kustom City) ended up purchasing it for the unbelievable price of $1. In August of 1965, producers from the television show Batman, approached Barris to see if he would be interested in building a Batmobile for their upcoming show, the only caveat was that it had to be completed in under three weeks. Facing a deadline, Barris knew he needed to come up with something quick and that’s when it hit him — the 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car — George enlisted the help of designers Eddie Graves, Bill Cushenbery, Gale Black and Richard “Korky” Korkes to transform the Lincoln Futura into one bad ass ride fit for a superhero. The crew worked tirelessly in order to meet the tight deadline and finally on October 11, 1965, the Batmobile was completed and delivered to Fox where it made its television debut on January 12, 1966.
